Mums and Garters 2011
So as you may know, I make Homecoming Mums and have just launched my mum website called www.melzmumz.com. School will be starting soon so Homecoming will be here before we know it!
For my site I needed to make some displays which I thought I would upload here to my blog as well. Currently I am working on my tutorials on how to make Homecoming Mums (which I have to give HUGE PROPS to you ladies who do video tutorials - I never knew they could be this hard!!) But I should have some started to be uploaded in the next couple of weeks!
Without further a do, here are some of the ones I have been working on lately:
This is a senior Triple Mum. I got these little tiaras this year which I thought were perfect for the bears! They did however have pink and green in the top of it so I had to paint it with my silver paint pen and then stuck some rhinestones in it to make it shine. Also new this year I thought I would add something different - mini memory books with a monogrammed initial! I thought - what better way to remember homecoming day than to have it on your mum where friends can write little notes or sign where you will have it forever!!
This is a decked out mum so it has bubbles, treat bag, 5 different braids (tutorials will be along soon I promise!!) feather boa and of course makes TONS of noise!!
Here you see a SUPER SIZE SINGLE MEGA MUM for Flower Mound High School. This is new this year - hard to tell from picture but this mum is 9.5" flower so with the ribbon backing it is almost as big as the Triple! I custom make my letters for the top with my cricut machine and paint them with silver paint and glitter.

Marcus Highschool Double Mum
I custom made the Marcus "M" out of shrinking plastic - cut with my cricut, colored with copics, red foil, and black stickles!!
Lewisville High School Single Mum. I've gotten really good with the box braids that you see running down the left hand side of the mum. Also at the top to give it more color, I used burgandy tulle and tufted it around in the white mum.
Flower Mound High School Single Deluxe Mum with bow instead of bear. Was trying to do something a little different for girls who didn't want a bear. It is hard to see but there are little crystal "jewels" hanging from middle of bow and standing up around the edge. - I will post a closer look below. This has a box braid, military braid, spirit braid and curly cue braid along with a maribou boa.

And here are a couple of garters for the guys!!
This one is either for Marcus or Colleyville High School. It is the 4.5" flower with 12" streamers.
This is a super deluxe garter for a senior. This is bigger than the one above. It is made with a 5.5" flower and has 18" streamers. Yep, the guys get to be just as loud and obnoxious as the girls on this day!! It was always so much fun!!
That is a victory braid you see running down the left side. (Tutorial soon I promise!!)
